The ������ϲ����� has risen one spot to 16^th globally in the latest U.S. News & World Report university ranking.

The , which are focused on research performance, placed ������ϲ����� first in Canada and 16^th in the world – a position it shared this year with Princeton University and University College London. That continues ������ϲ�����’s upward trajectory in the ranking from the previous year when it moved into 17^th position globally, up one spot from a year earlier.

Among public universities, ������ϲ����� continues to be ranked fifth in North America and seventh globally.

They are playing a key role in developing new knowledge and tackling some of the world’s most pressing challenges.”

������ϲ����� was also ranked among the top 10 universities globally in 13 subject areas: surgery (3^rd); endocrinology and metabolism (4^th); cardiac and cardiovascular systems (5^th); clinical medicine (5^th); oncology (5^th); psychiatry/psychology (8^th); arts and humanities (9^th); gastroenterology and hepatology (9^th); molecular biology and genetics (9^th); public, environmental and occupational health (9^th); radiology, nuclear medicine and medical imaging (9^th); biology and biochemistry (10^th); and social sciences and public health (10^th). 

In addition, ������ϲ����� was ranked first in Canada in 30 of the 43 subject areas covered in the ranking.

The U.S. News & World Report ranking assessed 1,750 universities across 90 countries through the lens of research performance, as measured by indicators such as global and regional reputations, citations, scholarly publications, international collaboration and citation impact. Data was obtained from Clarivate Analytics.

The methodology used to compile the rankings was identical to last year’s ranking, with the exception that the most recent edition featured the addition of five new subject areas.

Two other Canadian schools joined ������ϲ����� among the top 100 globally in the most recent ranking: the University of British Columbia, which ranked 35^th, and McGill University, which ranked 51^st.

The top five universities in the 2022 edition of the ranking were Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Oxford.

Overall, ������ϲ����� continues to be the highest-ranked Canadian university and one of the world’s top-ranked public universities in the five most closely watched international rankings: U.S. News & World Report’s Best Global Universities, Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings, QS World University Rankings, ShanghaiRanking Consultancy’s Academic Ranking of World Universities, and National Taiwan University World University Rankings.
